SUPER 8 FILM REVIEW

TOMB RAIDER/HANNIBAL trailers 1x100ft colour sound

Lara Croft is played by Angelina Jolie (most recently seen in the Nicolas Cage outing “Gone in 60 Seconds”) in this latest film adaptation of yet another computer game. A damned fine trailer but nothing that inspires me to see the film. Hannibal on the other hand looks a class act as it should given that it is directed by Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, Thelma & Louise, 1492, Gladiator etc.) and stars Anthony Hopkins in a reprise of his role from ‘Silence of the Lambs’. ‘Lambs’ of course was released on Super 8 whilst still doing its cinematic rounds and I believe this remains available if you would like to give Derann a call. The trailer to this sequel does entice you to see the feature and there is plenty of imagery included to provide you with a nice souvenir to keep of your theatrical outing.

Having not run any 8mm for a while I was rather excited to be sent the latest batch of trailers for review. I’d been rather preoccupied with my latest £700 DVD player which boasts first class (for DVD) picture quality. However, as soon as the Paramount logo appeared at the introduction of the ‘Tomb Raider’ item I remembered what an absolute treat it is to have a first class print on film. A reel that receives my top recommendation. Oh! And the sound is pretty good too.
