The Austin-Healey 3000 was launched in 1959 to upgrade the ‘Big Healey’ to the Austin 3 litre engine. Today it is the most famous of all Healey models and the most sought after. A large contingent of 3000s are joined by the earlier 100 models to visit some of the great Healey locations across Cornwall and not only do the owners tell the history of the cars but we are joined once again by former Healey Motor Company race driver, Clive Baker, and also Mary Healey, wife of the late Brian ‘Bic’ Healey.
Mary Healey joined us on Perranporth beach front. A great display attracted much attention from passers by all morning and into afternoon. Perranporth is where Donald Healey lived for most of his life.
An extensive look at the Classic & Supercars show at Sherborne Castle is also included on this disc. Expect to see plenty of Lamborghinis as well as classic British motors of all marques and models.
Bill Price, former assistant to the BMC Competitions Manager, as well as later BL Competitions Manager, was the after dinner speaker and he told tales of the big Healeys on major international rallies - most notably the infamous Liege.
